Maybe it's the silence that makes the whole thing strange. For his part, Noel's never had to deal with much of that; he and Serah had a natural ease, and before everything went downhill, he, Hope, and Snow acted in a similar way. And-- it's not like he's a quiet guy, either. Usually. It's just-- ...it's been centuries since he's met new people. Maybe he's forgotten how to talk to them.
Having a directive helps. Something to do. At heart, he's a person of action --maybe a little too much, honestly-- and he jumps to the task eagerly.
"Got it. It's not too far, so yell if you need me, alright?"
For what? Hell if he knows. It does sound kind of stupid, though, doesn't it? He, uh. He'll just go get that water.
